A Texas man has been arrested after he confessed to killing his uncle because he felt “unwelcomed and unloved” in the uncle’s home.
Jose Torres, 37, was found shot to death at his home on Friday after he failed to pick up his wife and children from work and school, KHOU reported. They called a family member to take them home and made the gruesome discovery when they arrived.
Torres, who was a dispatcher for the Spring Branch Independent School District police, was shot multiple times in the face and upper body.
Police said it appeared he had been outside working in his yard and went back inside, where he was shot. Investigators found multiple shell casings.
Antonio Guzman, 22, was identified as the suspect and arrested at his home on Sunday. He waived his court appearance on Sunday, but prosecutors said in a bail motion that Torres and his wife raised him “as their own son” and that he told investigators he killed his uncle “because he felt unwelcomed and unloved” by Torres, Law&Crime reported.
Torres’ wife told police her nephew had a gun, “anger control issues,” and a noticable limp, which investigators observed on surveillance video was he fled the scene.
Guzman has been given a $200,000 bail and ordered to have no contact with the family if he is released.
