Devastating new details have been revealed about the moments leading up to a crash, which killed three women, caused by a 14-year-old boy.
As one victim spent her final moments calling for help, all the concern the teenager showed was for his own sore toe.
Susan Marcus, who lost daughter Kelsie, was among those in court staring down for the first time the teenage boy who destroyed their families.

“It’s been quite harrowing. I’ve got to live with that image of her in the hospital for the rest of my life, and it haunts me,” she said.

The 14-year-old who can’t be named decided to get his kicks by stealing a Mercedes last April.

He drove dangerously at speeds of up to 200km/h before the three-car crash just outside Maryborough on Queensland’s Fraser Coast.

The impact killed nurse Sheree Robertson, 52, on her way home from night shift; Michale Chandler, pastor and mum of two little boys; and 17-year-old Kelsie Davies, a talented dancer who’d just finished high school.

In the same car was Kaylah Behrens, who survived but was left with a permanent brain injury.

Her victim impact statement revealed she struggles with survivor’s guilt, telling the court the life she once had has been permanently altered.

Inside the courtroom today, the teenager hung his head and avoided eye contact with anyone, even his own mother, who wept over her son’s actions as the families spoke of their grief.

The boy has spent the past 18 months in youth detention.

In that time he’s been involved in 96 reportable incidents.

He’s also known to brag about his crimes to other inmates.

“Broke my heart. That’s when I knew he hasn’t changed,” Susan Marcus said.

“I know he’s not remorseful. You know he hasn’t accepted what he’s done.”

They’ve waited 568 days for justice, and now they’ll have to wait a little longer.

The teen had previously pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing death.

Sentencing has been adjourned until December 5.
