A lengthy recovery operation has taken place after a Tesla mounted another car in Sydney’s north-west.

Motorists were urged to avoid Chapel Lane in Crestwood while a tow truck worked to safely remove the EV.

Pictures uploaded by The Hills Police Area Command to Facebook showed a white Tesla mounted on a blue Holden. Police later said the Holden was pushed into a third car.

“Unfortunately recovery operations for EVs take a long time due to risk of fire to the batteries,” the post read.

Lithium-ion batteries are found in electric cars, as well as e-scooters and e-bikes.

Tonight, NSW Police said the Tesla driver – a 48-year-old woman – was unhurt.

Police inquired into the circumstances of the crash but didn’t take any action.
