Spit on Sidewalk Leads to Arrest in 36-Year-Old Cold Case Murder of Massachusetts Woman

A Minnesota man shot and killed two adult women and his two juvenile children before taking his own life.

On Thursday in Duluth, Anthony Nephew, 46, appeared to have experienced a mental health crisis. According to Police Chief Mike Ceynowa, he had a “pattern of mental health issues.”

Around 2 p.m.on Thursday, police were called to a home on the 6000 block of Tacony Street in Duluth for a welfare check, where they found Erin Abramson, 47, and her son, Jacob Nephew, 15, both shot dead, according to NBC News.

Ceynowa stated that Abramson and Anthony Nephew had previously been in a relationship, and Jacob Nephew was their son.

Police identified Anthony Nephew as a potential suspect and set up surveillance at his home, approximately a mile from where Abramson and her son were shot.

Police reportedly deployed drones to inspect the home and were able to identify two more victims: Anthony Nephew’s wife, Kathryn Nephew, 45, and their 7-year-old child, Oliver Nephew.

Anthony Nephew was also found deceased, with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

“I want to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and victims involved in this tragedy yesterday,” Chief Ceynowa said. “We also want to send our condolences to both the Duluth community and the Superior community, as this is a senseless and tragic event.”
