Edward Lui, 21, died after taking three 150mg MDMA capsules and an 'imp', which contains 300mg of MDMA, at the Knockout Festival at Sydney Olympic Park in October last year

Some of the last texts sent by a young man before he died after taking several pills at a music festival have been revealed.

Edward Lui, 21, died after taking three 150mg MDMA capsules and an ‘imp’, which contains 300mg of MDMA, at the Knockout Festival at Sydney Olympic Park in October last year.

The drugs had been secured by Mr Lui’s friends, Jaime Tran and Nicholas Leow, who had bought them off Trong Ha Nguyen, 24.

Nguyen supplied 46 people with 1,894 capsules of MDMA, six imported tablets of MDMA, 87 bags of edibles and six bags of ketamine at the festival, according to court documents, news.com.au reported.

He made a profit of $33,725 on the day.

Police arrested Nguyen on his Rex flight back to Melbourne.

Officers also seized Leow’s phone which showed a conversation between him and Mr Lui on the day of the festival.

Mr Lui asked if it was too late to order any more ‘goodies’ for the event and Leow told him it was.

‘I still have you down for one imp tho right?’ Leow said.

‘Yeh ye easy algs (all good). Just for other people. As long as I still got mine LOL,’ Mr Lui replied.

After the festival, Mr Lui fell asleep in the taxi ride back to his George Street hotel but his girlfriend quickly noticed something was wrong.

Ngoc Chau Le Hoang saw her boyfriend acting strangely, kissing his jacket and ‘flailing his arms around like he was not in control of his body’ at around 10pm.

She called an ambulance after noticing Mr Lui’s lips were purple and his skin was pale.

He was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital to be treated for an excessive buildup of serotonin in his body.

Ms Hoang left Mr Lui’s side to call his mother once he had arrived at the hospital, but by the time she returned to the room her boyfriend was already dead.

Leow and Tran have been sentenced for providing the fatal drugs to Mr Lui.

Both received community correction orders for one count of the supply of the prohibited drug MDMA.

The court also heard that Nguyen had previously spent a year in Villawood Detention Centre and that his student visa expired after his arrest.

He will be sentenced for drug supply on Tuesday.
