Sydney Airport bomb scare triggered as emergency services swarm on incoming international flight

Police are continuing to investigate a bomb scare involving an incoming international flight at Sydney Airport. 

Australian Federal Police told Daily Mail Australia they were altered to an incident onboard Air New Zealand flight NZ247 as it approached Sydney from Wellington about 4.50pm. 

The flight was given permission to land and touched down safely at 5.37pm only to be met more than 30 emergency services crews on the tarmac. 

The A320 airliner – which carries up to 140 passengers – was isolated on a separate runway at the airport for about an hour before being ferried to a terminal.

An AFP spokesman said the incident posed no danger to public and that ‘investigations are continuing’.

According to reports, incoming flights were initially placed in a holding pattern before landings resumed.
