Commuters have been urged to prepare for delays after a man jumped onto train tracks just outside of Redfern Station (pictured) just before peak hour

Commuters have been warned to allow for extra travel time after a person was spotted along train tracks just before peak hour.

All trains were brought to a halt outside of Redfern Train Station in Sydney after emergency services were notified of the man on the tracks about 3pm.

NSW Police confirmed it received reports of a potential self harm incident and arrived at the scene to transport the man to hospital without injury.

While he has been taken off of the tracks, a number of train lines are expected to still be delayed throughout peak hour.

More to come.
