The young victim of a fatal buggy crash on the NSW-Victoria border has been identified as Gippsland teenager Charlee Neven.

Neven, 13, and the 47-year-old driver were killed on Saturday at a property in Tubbut in Victoria’s east when the buggy rolled just before 11pm.

Tributes have poured in for the teenager – fondly known as Choo – who has been described by a friend as “the light and sunshine” of her family’s life.

“She leaves in mourning the best mother in the world and brothers that love her beyond words and her Wally Walter sausage dog who keeps looking for her,” a fundraiser set up by a family friend states.

“It is more than we can comprehend at the moment. She was the light and the sunshine in our family and to her friends and community.

“She brought joy and love as she sped through every adventure she could find.”

Organiser Yvonne Evie Unthank said the online fundraiser was set up to help the teenager’s family pay bills and cover funeral costs.

“In memory of our beautiful Charlee/Choo,” Yvonne’s message continued.

“The light has dulled in your absence.”

She added that the crash did not occur during a large family gathering, which some reports have suggested.

Two other passengers, a 12-year-old boy and another 47-year-old man, were injured in the buggy rollover.

Police are investigating.
