Police are searching for a man after he allegedly escaped from police custody in Sydney’s south west.

Mulla Altinok, 28, was last seen on Meredith Street in Bankstown about 6.30am today.

Officers from Bankstown’s local area command are leading the search.

He is described as being of Mediterranean or Middle Eastern appearance, and is said to be about 165cm tall with a solid build.

Police said he has a shaved head and numerous tattoos on his upper chest.

He was last seen wearing a black shirt with a white collar, grey tracksuit pants, and no shoes.

The public have been urged not to approach him if they see him, and instead to call triple zero.
