Two alleged members of the notorious Alameddine crime group have been charged for their roles in supplying drugs to prisons in New South Wales.

Detectives identified an alleged syndicate operating within a Cessnock correctional centre during an investigation into drug supply across Sydney, which began April last year. 

Six people, four men and two women, were charged for their alleged roles in the group and remain before the courts.

Police arrested two more men at a prison in Silverwater on Monday.

A 23-year-old was charged with supplying a prohibited drug of a small quantity and participating criminal group or contributing to criminal activity.

A 31-year-old was charged with three counts of supplying a prohibited drug of a small quantity and participating criminal group or contributing to criminal activity.

Both men were formally refused bail at Parramatta Local Court yesterday and will face the same court today.

Detectives said they will allege in court the two men are members of the high-profile Alameddine crime group and helped supply drugs to the correctional facility with an estimated prison value of $250,000.

Investigations are continuing.
