The moon has put on a show around the world this week, lighting up the sky above many millions.

Skywatchers were treated to a rare sight when a supermoon coincided with a partial lunar eclipse, creating a very large but very dim full moon.

The moon looked huge and a beautiful dark terracotta shade above Sydney on September 18.
