An immediate recall has been issued over online retailer Temu’s torch “jibbitz” for Crocs over a button battery risk to children.

The two-pack of working headlights were sold in six different colours by Temu seller XCY between March 2023 to July 2024.

Consumer Affairs Victoria has found the jibbitz does not comply with the mandatory standards for products containing button or coin batteries.

The batteries on the headlights are not appropriately secured, are accessible to young children and does not include the required warning information.

“There is a risk of choking, severe internal burn injuries or death to young children if they gain access to the button or coin batteries and swallow them or place them inside their body,” the recall said.

“Severe or fatal injuries can happen in two hours or less.”

Anyone who has purchased the item is urged to immediately stop using them and place them out of reach of children.

Customers should take a photo of the jibbitz and send it to the seller for a full refund.

They should then dispose of the product.
