Four people who became trapped on a cliff while hiking in Queensland are being winched to safety after spending a night on the mountain.

The climbers became stranded on Tamborine Mountain yesterday afternoon, with at least one believed to be hurt.

Search and rescue operations were paused just before midnight after the operation was deemed too dangerous and resumed today.

Helicopters headed to the mountain, located in south-east Queensland, to airlift the hikers to safety.
