Police are investigating if a cleaner’s death was due to the toxic chemicals he was working with after his body was found in a unit block in Sydney’s south-west.

Officers were called to the unit block on St Johns Road in Cabramatta following a concern for welfare report at 9.45pm yesterday.

They found the 50-year-old male cleaner deceased at the scene.

Police are now trying to establish if the chemicals he was working with caused his death. 

Fire and Rescue NSW crews, including a HAZMAT team also attended the scene.

A crime scene was established and an investigation has begun into the circumstances of the incident.

His death is not being treated as suspicious.
