An investigation is underway after a herd of cattle were found dead in a semi-rural paddock.
A woman made the grim discovery while driving past the property in Oakford in Perth’s southern suburbs to feed her horses.
In a video posted to social media, the woman claimed one of the 25 dead cows had been lying on a pile of wood since Sunday.
The owner of the property was reported to been away. His son told Seven News the cows had suffered pneumonia.
Due to recent wet weather, the dead cows could not be collected or buried, the son added.
The RSPCA will conduct a full investigation to determine exactly what killed the livestock.
RSPCA investigators were seen at the scene inspecting the dead livestock on Tuesday.
According to Meat and Livestock Australia, pneumonia in cattle is commonly linked to bovine respiratory diseases, the most common cause of illness and death in feedlot cattle.

To treat cattle with pneumonia, it’s recommended that affected animals are isolated in a well-ventilated area protected from excessive cold or heat.
It’s also important to maintain hydration, provide easy access to water and feed while reducing the physical stress of an animal to a minimum.
Antibiotic and anti-inflammatory treatment may aid recovery.
