A convicted Gold Coast criminal has made a bold jump down multiple flights of stairs to avoid 9News cameras.

Daniel Steven Wesley May today pleaded guilty to a frightening road rage smash on Oxley Drive at Coombabah on February 17.

The court was told the victim called May a “junkie” and yelled at him to turn his music down.

In response, May threw a bottle at the victim’s car and brake checked him, tapping his brakes in front of the victim’s vehicle.

The complainant gave chase before May went after him, making a U-turn and narrowly avoiding him before they crashed.

The court was told May jumped out of his car and sprinted after the victim, threatening that he had a knife.

The knife was in his car, however, not physically with him.

The court was also told May struggled with anger management issues.

The prosecution is pushing for time behind bars.

The magistrate reserved her decision until tomorrow.
