Jazz Chisholm likely headed to injured list in potential Yankees disaster

Jazz Chisholm is staring down a stint on the injured list.

The Yankees infielder is likely headed to the IL with an ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) injury after injuring himself during Tuesday’s blowout loss to the White Sox, manager Aaron Boone told reporters Wednesday.

The team is now trying to determine the severity and if he will need surgery or not, MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch reported.

Chisholm, 26, slid headfirst into home plate to score a run in the fifth inning against the White Sox but exited the game two innings later with what was called a left elbow injury.

The infielder said he was initially not concerned about the injury and said initial testing came with “pretty positive” results.

In 14 games since coming over from the Marlins in a pre-trade deadline deal, Chisholm has been a revelation in the Yankees lineup, slashing .316/.361/.702 with seven homers.
