Emergency services were called to an address on Orth Street in Kingswood on Tuesday, August 6 to find a home well alight.

The victim was rushed to hospital in critical condition but died yesterday around 9pm.

Police commenced an investigation into the fire which was believed to be deliberately lit.

A 63-year-old man was arrested nearby and taken to hospital for medical treatment.

The man was discharged and taken to Penrith police station where he was charged with damage property by fire with intent to injure, damage property by fire and reckless grievous bodily harm.

He was refused bail and appeared at Penrith Local Court on August 7.

He remains before the courts.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
