Police have charged a man after busting an alleged active drug lab in Sydney’s west.

Organised crime detectives executed a search warrant in Silverdale at 11.30am yesterday.

During the search, officers allegedly uncovered an active clandestine laboratory and seized several items including firearm parts, a large amount of powder and liquid which they allege are drugs.

They also allegedly found a cannabis farm with a number of marijuana plants, and chemicals believed to be used in the manufacture of prohibited drugs.

Specialist police and Fire and Rescue NSW were called in to assess the size of the lab and dismantle it.

At 2.30pm on Friday, police arrested a 30-year-old man in relation to the discovery.

He was taken to Campsie Police Station where he was charged with manufacturing a prohibited drug more than a large commercial quantity, two counts of supplying a prohibited drug, cultivating a prohibited plant and organise/assist a drug premises.

The search warrant came after detectives identified an alleged criminal network importing glassware ”consistent with the manufacture of prohibited drugs.”

All items seized will go under forensic examination.

The man was refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Local Court today.
