The American abroad is a classic archetype of modern fiction – but in the case of the Olympic Games, it appears the Americans brought a slice of home with them.

This is the Team USA House in the historic Palais Brongniart, Paris’ former stock exchange.

It’s not the athletes’ residence, but a kind of fan club run by the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee.

As well as guests including celebrities, and former and current Olympic athletes, regular punters can gain entry too – for a fee.
