A three-year-old boy has died after he fell out of a car in Perth yesterday afternoon.

The boy was in the back seat of a white Kia Carnival station wagon driving on Arthur Street in Dayton at 3.50pm yesterday when he fell onto the road near the intersection of Grandis Road.

Police say the car then ran over him.

The boy was then taken to a nearby address in the same vehicle and emergency services were called.

“Sadly, the passenger sustained critical injuries and died a short time later,” WA police said in a statement.

Resident Sinikiwe Dumba said she heard sirens and saw police blocking the road.

“I just heard a woman scream out in agony and I knew something was wrong,” she said.

Dumba said it was sad a young child was involved in such a horrific accident.

“I feel sorry for the parents. I can only imagine what they’re going through,” she said.

Major Crash investigators are scouring the scene.

They are appealing for any witnesses to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report the information online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au.

They are also seeking anyone who may have dashcam or mobile phone footage of the crash.
