Fiorentina are reportedly interested in signing free agent Angelo Ogbonna, following the end of his nine-year tenure with West Ham United.

The 36-year-old Italian centre-back, who joined the Hammers from Juventus for around €11 million in July 2015, became a stalwart in West Ham’s defense.

He made a total of 249 appearances across all competitions.

Ogbonna is now a free agent after his contract expired earlier this month and is open to a return to Serie A.

According to Football Italia, Vincenzo Italiano’s Bologna had been monitoring the player for several weeks, but Fiorentina have now joined the race.

Corriere dello Sport reports that Fiorentina are willing to add Ogbonna’s experience and leadership to their squad, following the sale of Nikola Milenkovic.
