SPEAKING of the house band, the Tennessean had a cool story on these guys

The Nashville band Sixwire has kept the jams coming throughout the Republican National Convention and came into the spotlight after Day 1 in Milwaukee, Wis.

Sixwire, advertised as the “‘go-to’ guys for television” according to the band’s website, brought out the “dad jams” this week, but gained further recognition when a teleprompter issue while House Speaker Mike Johnson was speaking gave them some more airtime. The issue also came with some ribbing on social media with how long the band had to play, especially with a longer-than-average rendition of Cheap Trick’s “I Want You to Want Me.”

Members Andy Childs (lead vocals, guitar), Steve Hornbeak (keyboards, vocals), John Howard (bass guitar), Steve Mandile (guitar, vocals) and Chuck Tilley (drums, percussion), continued to keep those “dad jams” coming and accompanied other scheduled performances.
