Murder Victim Found in Toolbox Was Killed for Threatening to Expose Drug Ring

On Wednesday, Vermont State Police charged three people with the death of a woman who was found in a toolbox in February.

Tramaine Keith, 24, allegedly shot Kayla Wright, 29, three times at a Troy residence on February 2. Aaron Camp, 34, and Terron Pendleton, 34, helped clean up the crime scene — while Camp also put Wright’s body in a large toolbox and left it at the Missisquoi River, according to WPTZ.

The toolbox containing Wright’s body was discovered on a sandbar four days after the slaying. Investigators said she died from a gunshot wound to the head, according to NECN.

WCAX reported that Keith shot Wright because she threatened to go to the police about his drug-dealing operation.

Vermont State Police said they applied for an arrest warrant for Keith, 24, who has been in custody since February on federal drug charges.

Keith is charged with second-degree murder, while Camp and Pendleton are charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder. Camp is also charged with unauthorized burial or removal of a body.

Camp and Pendelton are due in court on Wednesday. A court hearing for Keith has not been scheduled.
