Trump was left bleeding after shots rang out at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania earlier this morning, and was swiftly escorted to safety.
Two people have been killed, including the suspected shooter, law enforcement says.
Trump’s campaign and the Secret Service have confirmed the presumptive Republican presidential nominee is safe and well.
Biden was briefed on the incident after leaving church in Delaware and spoke to reporters shortly after 8pm local time (10am AEST).
“Apparently (Trump) is doing well,” Biden said.
“I plan on talking to him shortly, I hope when I get back to the telephone.
“Look, there’s no place in America for this kind of violence. It’s sick, it’s sick.
“It’s one of the reasons why we have to unite this country. We cannot allow for this to be happening. We cannot be like this. We cannot condone this.”
Biden thanked law enforcement agencies and the Secret Service for their swift action.
“The bottom line is that the Trump rally was a rally that he should have been able to … be conducted peacefully without any problem,” he said.
“And we – everybody, everybody must condemn it. Everybody.”
Biden confirmed more details would be provided as the investigation unfolded.
