The 30-year-old and his partner BiBi Kim had left their Ford Escape running while they were unloading groceries at their new apartment on Hardware Street.

A thief jumped in the driver’s seat, and Song clung to the bonnet trying to stop him, but ended up underneath his own car.

“The tyre was come over my head, and arms, and my chest here. Because I was rolled I thought, I’m gonna be dead, I’m gonna be dead,” he said.

His girlfriend watched on in horror.

“That moment when he came out from the car is replaying so many times in my mind,” she said.

Song spent four days in hospital with a broken sternum and grazes over his entire body.

He said two doctors who witnessed what happened helped save his life. After being discharged from hospital, he returned to the scene to thank them.

Five days on from the incident, police are still searching for the man who took off in his car.

The 30-year-old faces a long recovery, but is grateful to have survived.

“I feel like I just got my second life,” he said.

“I’m going to try to live this second life meaningfully.”
