A former AFL player has had his charges upgraded after a crash that killed two women in Western Australia’s Wheatbelt region.
However, when the former Collingwood player faced Geraldton Court today those charges were upgraded to manslaughter.
The 38-year-old was allegedly behind the wheel of a Toyota Prado last month when it collided with a road train towing two trailers and a Suzuki hatchback on Brand Highway near Cataby.
Coral Senior and Thelma Clausen, the two women inside the Suzuki, both died in the crash.
It’s understood the charges were upgraded as a result of blood tests.
Cox did not enter a plea today and the matter was adjourned for legal advice.
His bail has been extended with further conditions added.
Cox will reappear in Perth court on July 24.
