The Bachelor first debuted in 2002, and Jesse Palmer was among one of the early stars after appearing on the show during its fifth season.
After weeks of romance, the former NFL player from Toronto, Ontario, picked 22-year-old Jessica Bowlin, a student from Huntington Beach, California, as his winner.
Despite being the season’s winner, Palmer, who was 25 years old at the time, decided not to propose and instead gave her a plane ticket to New York City so she could see him.
“This whole thing to me is like a dream,” Palmer told Bowlin during the Final Rose Ceremony in 2004.
“And tomorrow morning I’m gonna wake up from that dream into the real world. But I don’t want to wake up tomorrow morning if I can’t wake up with you.”
He continued, “I am not ready to propose to you tonight. I think that we need more time to grow and learn about each other.”
Bowlin said she didn’t “need” a proposal and only wanted to “walk out” with him.

Following the end of season five, Palmer and Bowlin went on to date but ended their relationship shortly after.
The two reportedly broke up a month after their finale aired, making their relationship one of the shortest in Bachelor history.
“Jessica and I shared an incredible romantic journey on the show that began with a friendship that remains strong today. We simply realized that, individually, our next steps take us in different directions,” Palmer said in June 2004 following their split.
Bowlin later married Omar Ravi in 2013.

Who is Jesse Palmer with now?
Jesse Palmer is married to Brazilian model Emely Fardo.
She has also jumped behind the camera and often posts her food photography and her wedding photography on Instagram.
Before Jesse popped the question in 2019, he met Emely at a boxing class in 2017.
In photos of the proposal shared on his Instagram, Jesse said, “You said ‘yes’. I’m so lucky to finally call you my fiancé.
“I asked for an angel to be brought into my life…and it was you.”
Although they initially wanted to have their wedding in France, their plans were derailed because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Instead, they exchanged their vows in an intimate ceremony in Connecticut on July 5, 2020.
On January 10, 2024, Jesse announced on Instagram that Emely had given birth to their first child, a daughter.
