Officials have provided a timeline regarding two Georgia firefighters who were found dead in Tennessee on Sunday — nearly a week after their reported disappearance.
Though WJCL reported that Raegan Anderson and possibly Chandler Kuhbander were last seen alive on Monday, June 24 near the Oglethorpe Mall in Savannah, Georgia, WXIA reported that the Hinesville firefighters were last seen on Tuesday at Liberty County Fire Services Station #1 in Midway.
The same day they were seen at the fire station, a Liberty County fire chief asked Hinesville police to conduct a welfare check for Anderson. Officers who went to Anderson’s home reportedly found a note which sparked concerns regarding her mental state.
The contents of that note have not been disclosed. However, days before the welfare check, Anderson was arrested for keying Kuhbander’s car after he went on a date with another woman. Anderson and Kuhbander previously dated for seven years.
On Monday, Anderson allegedly went to a Crunch Fitness in Savannah. Kuhbander’s mother claimed she viewed surveillance footage which showed Anderson driving around the gym’s parking lot while her son was inside.
“At 11:40 my son walks out of the building and he looks very comfortable, like he just had his workout. He doesn’t look rushed as he walks through the parking lot. After that, we don’t see him again,” she told WJCL.
The Coastal Courier reported that Anderson’s debit card was last used at a Circle K in South Carolina — where Kuhbander’s cell phone also pinged.
Before Anderson and Kuhbander’s bodies were discovered on Sunday, police said they believed they were in the Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge area in Tennessee.
Hinesville police said the pair was found dead in a car in Cosby, Tennessee, more than 300 miles away from where they vanished nearly a week earlier. Police have not said what led up to their deaths, and an autopsy to confirm their cause and manner of death is pending.
In a statement, Hinesville police offered their “deepest condolences to the Anderson and Kuhbander families during this incredibly difficult time.”
