Australian media personality and former politician Derryn Hinch has revealed he is undergoing treatment for melanoma.

The 80-year-old announced he was entering his third of five weeks of radiation treatment for skin cancer found on his forehead.

He provided an update on his treatment and praised staff at Melbourne’s The Alfred Hospital in a Facebook post.

“So far, no side effects like tiredness, and scarring is minimal. Staff fantastic,” he wrote.

In the late 2000s Hinch was diagnosed with liver cancer with the disease almost claiming his life.

Hinch had been given a 60 per cent chance of living another five years.
