A man has been rushed to hospital in Ipswich with life-threatening injuries after a workplace accident.

The worker, aged in his 60s, became trapped between a scissor lift and a fence around 7am this morning on Torch Street, east Ipswich, the Queensland Ambulance said.

The man was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with life-threatening injuries to his abdomen, chest and head.

A spokesperson Workplace Health and Safety Queensland said officials had responded to the incident, which occurred at a residential property.

An investigation had been opened, the spokesperson said.
