A Perth man has been charged with manslaughter after an 11-year-old boy died from injuries he allegedly received at the hands of the man as a baby.

The 11-year-old had required 24/7 care and support since he was injured in his family home in December 2010.

In September 2021, the boy’s health deteriorated and he was admitted to Perth Children’s Hospital for end-of-life care.

There are 'grave fears' within the government agency running Perth Children's Hospital over the relocation of the planned $1.8 billion Women's and Babies Hospital to Murdoch.

He died on September 24, 2021.

Police allege the injuries the boy received in 2010 are directly linked to his death 11 years later.

The accused, a 37-year-old man who is known to the boy, was arrested yesterday and charged with manslaughter.

He was refused bail and is set to appear in Perth Magistrates Court today.
