Police were called to Claremont Street in Merrylands about 1.40pm yesterday after a blue Mitsubishi Lancer struck a woman as she was crossing the road.

The woman in her 40s was found injured on the side of the road before being taken to hospital in an ambulance with a broken leg.

Today police confirmed they seized the unregistered Lancer from a home on Guildford Road at Guildford.

“Police arrested an 82-year-old woman at the scene and took her to Granville Police Station,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“She has since been released without charge, pending further inquiries.”
