Alabama Child Rapist Caught Hiding in National Forest

A South Alabama man is behind bars, charged with rape and sodomy of a child under the age of 10, after eluding police for two days.

The Dale County Sheriff’s Office said that Colt Bryan Lecuyer, 33, was already a registered sex offender when a witness called 911 on Friday to report having seen Lecuyer raping the child in the back of his vehicle, the Dothan Eagle reported.

Lecuyer fled the scene before the arrival of Level Plains Police officers, who issued a “be on the lookout” warning for him. Several hours later, officers in Auburn, more than 100 miles away, found his vehicle abandoned in a Walmart parking lot.

Deputies seized the vehicle and returned it to Dale County, but a search for the suspect was unsuccessful until Sunday, when he was spotted on foot in the Tuskegee National Forest. The Macon County Sheriff’s Office and units from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and the state’s Department of Corrections responded and tracked him down.

“Department of Corrections K9 tracking teams tracked the suspect for over four miles before taking him into custody in a wooded area off County Road 57 in Macon County,” Dale County Sheriff Mason Bynum said.

Dale County deputies traveled to Macon County and brought Lecuyer back to south Alabama. He’s being held without bond, jail records show.
