ON June 16, 2007, actress Busy Philipps tied the knot with filmmaker Marc Silverstein.
However, after 14 years of marriage, Busy revealed she and Marc decided to call it quits in 2021 — here’s all we know about her ex-husband.
Who is Busy Philipps’ ex-husband, Marc Silverstein?
Marc Silverstein is a filmmaker born on July 1, 1971, in Beverly Hills, California.
Marc got his big break after co-writing the 1999 romantic comedy Never Been Kissed, starring Drew Barrymore.
In 2000, he co-created the TV series Opposite Sex which featured big named actors including Chris Evans, Milo Ventimiglia, and Garcelle Beauvais.
According to his IMDB, he also has writing credits on He’s Just Not That Into You, Valentine’s Day, and The Vow.
At the height of his career, Marc met and began dating Busy Philipps.
The pair eventually tied the knot on June 16, 2007, in a surprise wedding.
“Marc & I invited our friends to what they thought was my surprise birthday party,” Busy said on Instagram in 2014.
“When I showed up, everyone yelled surprise and Marc & I yelled it right back- since they had ACTUALLY been invited to our wedding.”
However, after 14 years of marriage, the two secretly split in 2021.
It wasn’t until a year later that Busy revealed their relationship status on an episode of her podcast.
“Marc and I talked about it, and when we first separated, we couldn’t even think about putting one of those statements out — it made us sick, both of us, truly ill,” she said.
How many kids do they have together?
Throughout their marriage, Marc and Busy have welcomed two kids together.
On August 13, 2008, Busy gave birth to her firstborn, Birdie Philipps.
In 2021, Busy revealed Birdie is gay and uses they/them pronouns. Speaking on her podcast, Busy said: “For those of you who are my friends listening at home, this is the first you’re hearing that Birdie is gay and out.
“Birdie told us at 10 years old and we immediately… I mean obviously, I knew that Birdie knew. I said, ‘You know, Bird, I’ve been doing a bad job with the pronouns.’
“Because Birdie said that they would like their pronouns to be they/them, and I haven’t been doing it, and I said because I have this public persona and I want Birdie to be in control of their own narrative and not have to answer to anybody outside of our friends and family if they don’t want to.”
She went on to say that Birdie gave her their blessing to share the news on Busy’s podcast.
In addition to Birdie, the couple had their youngest, Cricket Pearl, on July 2, 2013.
What has Busy said about co-parenting?
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, Busy got candid about her co-parenting dynamic with Marc after their separation.
“I think that we just both understood, fundamentally, that we made a promise to each other and to our kids.”
She said while “one part of the promise is different,” the promise regarding “raising our children together” remains the same.
“Being able to communicate is important and necessary,” she continued.
“And we weren’t going to let any hurt feelings on our side affect how we can show up for what is essentially still a family.”
