Son Dismembers Elderly Dad’s Body & Leaves Body Parts on Driveway

Bbond was set at $1 million on Monday for an Ohio man whose father’s dismembered remains were discovered in two separate locations.

Kettering police Chief Christopher Protsman said homicide charges could be filed in this case, but they did not say whether they believed Edgar Keiter Jr., 52, killed his father, Edgar Keiter Sr., 75. Keiter Sr.’s legs were reportedly found in Trotwood on April 22 after a resident reported finding the remains in a trash bag at the end of his driveway, according to the Dayton Daily News.

A responding officer discovered Keiter Sr.’s remains, observing what is believed to be a dead body surrounded by flies on a white tarp. The tarp was located in a wooded area, the Dayton Daily News reported.

The remains were identified as Keiter Sr. with a serial number from a knee replacement surgery.

Witnesses placed Keiter Jr. at his father’s apartment before the legs were found. The victim’s apartment was cleared out, and the carpet was removed the week of April 14 — and Keiter Jr. was seen driving his father’s car, according to WKEF.

Keiter Sr.’s car was discovered in Fairborn on May 1. Two people were found inside the vehicle, but neither were Keiter Jr.

A search of Keiter Sr.’s apartment reportedly uncovered a spot where bleach was poured in addition to the pulled-up carpet. Detectives allegedly also recovered a rope, tarp, and saw blade.

WKEF reported that a blood-stained carpet was found in a garage near Keiter Jr’s home. The garage does not belong to him but he allegedly asked the owner to store his belongings there.

Authorities said additional body parts and evidence were discovered at a storage unit. The remains were stored in a bag that matched the ones discovered at the original crime scene, according to the Dayton Daily News.

The storage unit’s owner reportedly told police that Keiter Jr. asked them to reserve it in their name.

Keiter Jr. was arrested on May 1 for stealing items from his father’s apartment. He was later charged with gross abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday.
