A former long time Channel Seven journalist has officially jumped ship to rival Network Nine breakfast show Today.

Presenter Kendall Gilding, 32, made her debut on the early morning program on Tuesday when she appeared during a live cross to Queensland.

Reporting on a crime spree happening west of Brisbane, the newsreader took a shine to her new role following 12 years as a fill-in reporter at Seven.

Kendall distanced herself from her former employers after stepping down from the network last year in a shock move.

The veteran newsreader has been a recognisable face on Channel Seven for over a decade, but stepped down from her role in December in a ‘radical step’.

Presenter Kendall Gilding, 32, made her debut on the early morning program Tuesday when she appeared during a live cross to Queensland

She took things a step further in February and tried to remove all traces of Seven from her social media accounts, just weeks after leaving her former job.

Kendall took to Instagram to share a video telling fans she deleted the word ‘seven’ from her Instagram handle.

Flashing a big smile in delight, the presenter, who was self-employed at the time as a budding influencer and columnist, said: ‘This is a post celebrating being Kendall Gilding and not Kendall Gilding Seven!’

The big change comes after Kendall shocked fans with the news that she was quitting her role on Channel Seven in December.

In an on-air announcement, she hinted at her next steps as she quashed rumours she was quitting to become a full-time mother.

Kendall shares children Olive, four, and Moses, one, with her husband Timothy Morgan.

‘This Friday will be my final day. I’m reading the 6pm news all week. Praying this isn’t a moment of insanity, but rather a radical step of bravery,’ she said at the time.

‘I’m not becoming a stay at home mum, I don’t plan on leaving media. I’m looking forward to a huge 2024 – ready to work harder than ever! Stay tuned.’

Following her exit from Seven, Kendall became very active on social media, promoting brands as well as her column for QWeekend magazine.

She began her journalism career in 2011 as a presenter on Brisbane radio station 96five Family Radio and later that year, she began working for Seven.
