A 26-year-old man was charged with murder on Saturday night, after a teenager died in a rural New South Wales town.

A 16-year-old boy was found with stab injuries to his neck at a home on Nymagee Street, Narromine at 9pm on Friday. 

He was treated by paramedics and rushed to Dubbo Airport for an emergency medical transfer, but he died before he could be airlifted out.

Police established a crime scene and detectives launched an investigation into the incident.

The 26-year-old man was arrested at a home nearby following police inquiries.

He was refused bail and will appear at Dubbo Local Court today.

Narromine is a town of about 3500 people in central-northern NSW, near Dubbo.
