The head of Channel Seven’s flagship Spotlight program has exited the network after explosive allegations were levelled by a whistleblower.
Mark Llewellyn, who has been the executive producer of Spotlight since 2020, handed in his security pass in on Wednesday night.
His ouster comes in the wake of the network’s exclusive interview with accused rapist Bruce Lehrmann that aired in June 2023.
The interview was set up by ex-producer Taylor Auerbach who later blew the whistle on Seven for what he considered to be unethical methods of gaining access to Mr Lehrmann.
Mr Auerbach alleged Seven reimbursed Mr Lehrmann for cocaine and sex workers in the lead up to his interview.
Mr Llewellyn will not be returning to his position and has hired lawyer John Laxon to negotiate his termination package.

Mr Llewellyn’s departure was first reported by The Australian and is the first significant development since Mr Auerbach’s allegations.
