Grisly discovery in Westchester park could hold clues to old shooting

The grisly discovery of skeletal remains at a Westchester County park could help answer lingering questions about a shooting in Connecticut last year, according to a report.

Greenburgh police found the remains inside Rumbrook Park on March 21 near a car tied to a June 15 broad-daylight shooting in New Haven, Conn., that left one man in critical condition, lohud.com reported.

A gun also was found near the skeleton, although it is unclear if it is tied to either the person’s death or the 2023 shooting, according to the outlet.

Police said skeletal remains found at Rumbrook Park in Greenburgh could be linked to a 2023 Connecticut shooting.

But the car matches the description of the suspect’s vehicle from the 2023 shooting.

According to the New Haven Register, the shooting happened on Young Street in New Haven’s Beaver Hills neighborhood shortly before 11:30 a.m., leaving the victim in critical but stable condition.

The victim later recovered from his wounds.

Last week, Christian Bruckhart, a spokesman for the New Haven Police Department, told lohud.com that the vehicle found along a path at the Greenburgh park is believed to be related to the shooting.

Police are waiting for the remains to be positively identified.
