A 17-year-old boy has handed himself into police after allegedly stabbing a male student, 16, at a high school in Melbourne on Tuesday (pictured, police at the scene)

A 16-year-old boy has allegedly been stabbed at a school in Melbourne.

Emergency services were called to the school on Wilson Rd in Melton South about 3pm on Tuesday following reports a teenager had been stabbed.

His injuries were not life threatening. 

A 17-year-old boy later handed himself into a police station where he was arrested.

Police were told another male teenager fled the scene on foot.

Detectives from the Victoria Police Melton Crime Investigation Unit are investigating the alleged incident and are yet to establish the circumstances.
