How Miles McBride worked to make the most of his Knicks shot — with two coaches in his ear

DENVER — The 40-plus-minute games are piling up for his son, so Walt McBride can’t automatically recall the opponent. But he remembers his postgame text.

“I know you’re going to sleep well after that,” Walt wrote. “You should’ve told the coach you were tired.”

Miles McBride’s response? “You don’t tell Thibs you’re tired.”

That’s a fine motto for a player in the position of “Deuce” McBride, a relative newcomer to the Thibs Circle of Trust who has worked and waited and conquered to reach his place as Knicks utility man.
