Karyn White was popular in the eighties and the early nineties for her music.
The singer had her first break into the industry when she sang on three of Jeff Lorber’s tracks from 1986.
This was before she signed to Warner Bros Records, where she released her hit debut album two years later.
Her first self-titled record was produced by original X Factor USA judge L.A. Reid and it achieved Platinum status in the USA.

She also received two consecutive Grammy Award nominations in the Best Female R&B Vocal Performance category.
The first was in 1989 for the track ‘The Way You Love Me’, and the second was a year later for her performance of ‘Superwoman’.
Karyn, now 58, reached the top spot of the US Hot 100 chart with her track ‘Romantic’ in 1991.
The singer dropped out of the public eye for many years in order to start a family.
She married Terry Lewis in 1992, where they had a daughter together named Ashley Nicole and they adopted a son called Brandon.
They divorced in 1999 before she later married producer/musician Bobby G in 2009.
The relationship lasted until 2009 before she started dating fellow musician Al B. Sure! in 2012.
Now it seems she looks better than ever with her chic style and her thick curly locks.
She still performs regularly as she took to social media to share behind the scenes clips of her gigs.
The singer recently appeared on television, joining the Fox 19 Xtra team to promote her work.
Her other single, ‘The Way I Feel About You’ also achieved significant success having peaked at number 12 in the charts.
By 1995, although her solo career waned somewhat, the singer appeared with legends on the industry on a popular single.
She sang alongside the likes of Mary J Blige and Monica for the track ‘Freedom’ for the Panther film soundtrack.
The star later planned to record a new album called ‘Sista Sista’ in 2006, although it did not come to fruition.
But two of the songs, ‘All I Do’ and ‘Disconnected’, were later included on her compilation album, Superwoman: The Best of Karyn White.
She later returned to the music industry in 2012 with her first album after her 17 year break from the industry titled Carpe Diem.
