Two bodies have been found in an estuary south of Perth after a suspected double drowning. 

A man and woman were pulled from the water at Herron Point Boat Ramp in Birchmont, about 30km south of Mandurah, at around midday on Thursday.

The pair are understood to have gone fishing on Wednesday and did not return.

Police had been searching for them after loved ones raised the alarm.

People staying at a nearby campground told 9News they did not see what happened to the pair, but locals said the water could be treacherous and had deep sections.

The deaths are not being treated as suspicious.
