Chris Martin is in paradise with Dakota Johnson.
The Coldplay lead vocalist asked the actress for her hand in marriage “a while ago,” according to the Mirror.
“They have been besotted with each other from day one so taking this next step was inevitable,” a source claimed to the publication Wednesday.
“They are in no rush to plan the wedding but are just enjoying making their commitment official.”
The couple also reportedly has the approval of Martin’s ex-wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, who last October said she is “good friends” with the “Madam Web” star and described her as “an adorable, wonderful person.”
Representatives for Martin, Paltrow and Johnson did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
The pair have been linked since 2017 but briefly split in 2019. Johnson, the daughter of actor Don Johnson and Academy Award-nominated actress Melanie Griffith, sparked engagement rumors in 2020 when she was photographed with a sizeable emerald ring on her left ring finger.
While they strive to keep their relationship out of the spotlight, Johnson, 34, raved about being a stepmother figure to Martin and Paltrow’s children in an interview with Bustle published this week.
“I love those kids like my life depends on it. With all my heart,” she said, referring to the former couple’s daughter, Apple, 19, and son, Moses, 17.
At another point in the article, she touched upon her friendship with Paltrow, 51, and noted that she believes her chosen family is “equally as important, if not more,” than family related by blood.
Johnson also revealed she is “open” to having kids of her own.
“I’ve gotten to this place where I really want to experience everything that life has to offer,” the “50 Shades of Grey” actress explained.
“And especially being a woman, I’m like, ‘What a magical f–king thing to do. What a crazy, magical, wild experience.’ If that’s meant to happen for me, I’m totally down for it.”
Martin, 47, was married to Paltrow for 11 years before announcing their “conscious uncoupling” in 2014.
Their divorce was finalized in 2016.
Johnson has never been married but previously dated Scientologist Jordan Masterson and Matthew Hitt.
