Ilaiyaraaja Daughter Husband, Who is R. Sabariraj?

Veteran composer Ilaiyaraaja’s daughter Bhavatharini passed away on 25 January 2024 after battling with cancer. She was in Sri Lanka where was receiving the treatment. She was a National award-winning singer who passed away at the age of 47. On 25 January 2024, Kamal Haasan tweeted about his brother Ilaiyaraaja’s daughter,

“Mind blown. I don’t know what to do with my dear brother Ilayaraja. I grab his hands mentally. Pavadarini’s demise is something that cannot be tolerated or accepted. My brother Ilayaraja should not lose heart in this greatness. My heartfelt condolences to the family of Bhavadharini.”

Actor Silambarasan TR also tweeted, 

“The voice that forever lives in the heart of people for its innocence and love! You were a pure soul! Gone too soon! I pray to God to give strength to the family of Illayaraja sir and my brother @thisisysr at this moment! Rest in peace Bhavatharini.”

Chnmayi Sripaada wrote on X, 

“Bhavatharini Ilayaraja was one of the nicest people I knew. Safe travels, lovely girl. I wish and pray for strength to Raja sir, Karthik Raja, and Yuvan Shankar Raja. This is so heartbreaking.”

Anirudh Ravichander wrote on X, 

“Shocked and saddened #RIPBhavatharini 🙏🏻 Heartfelt condolences to the family and friends.”

Director Bharathiraja wrote in Tamil on X which translated text is here, 

“How will I console my friend? Bhavatharini’s death is an irreplaceable loss to our family.” Actor Soori shared, “The death of sister Bavatarini who sings with a honey voice is tragic! An unbearable grief for any father! I don’t know what to say… My deepest condolences to the musician and his family.”

Veteran composer Ilaiyaraaja’s daughter Bhavatharini was married to R. Sabariraj who is an advertising executive. They got married in 2002. Her husband is the son of S.N. Ramachandran who is a former journalist.

Ilaiyaraaja’s daughter’s husband’s father went into publishing and started Kannan Advertising.

Ilaiyaraaja’s daughter Bhavatharini and her husband had two children a son and a daughter.

Bhavatharini was the daughter of music composer Ilaiyaraaja. She made her singing debut in 1995 with the song “Masthana Masthana” which is the song of the Raasaiyya movie. She sang for many Tamil movies.

Her several songs that are so popular such as “Oru Deivam Thandha Poove” from Kannathil Muthamittal, “Mayil Pola Ponnu Onnu” from Bharathi, “Unnai Kandane” from Parijatham, and “Enna Solla Pogirai” from Kandukondain Kandukondain.

Ilaiyaraaja was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2023. She underwent treatment in Chennai and later she tried Ayurveda treatment in Sri Lanka.

However, her health was not improved and she passed away at the hospital on 25 January 2024 in Sri Lanka. For her funeral rituals, her body was brought back to Chennai where the last rites were conducted.
