Crystal Hefner: Hugh died ‘just in time’ before the #MeToo movement

Crystal Hefner, the widow of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, thinks that her late husband died “just in time” before the #MeToo movement went viral in October 2017.

The social reckoning of #MeToo went into full effect after sexual abuse allegations against film producer Harvey Weinstein surfaced.

At the time, actress Alyssa Milano tweeted the hashtag and encouraged women to share their stories of sexual harassment and assault.

Crystal and the magazine publisher married in 2012. He died in September 2017 at the age of 91.

The 37-year-old model told the Daily Mail that the infamous Playboy mansion would “absolutely not” have survived the movement.

“I’ve thought about this because #MeToo happened, literally, a month after he passed away,” she explained in the interview, while promoting her memoir, “Only Say Good Things: Surviving Playboy and Finding Myself.”

She added: “He left Earth just in time.”

The longtime abode of Hugh was known for its raging sex parties. Over time, the house became rundown and filled with mold.

“I feel that the mansion was so unique and couldn’t be replicated,” Crystal went on. “It was like this weird social experiment at its time, but I don’t know how he would have held up during the #MeToo.”

She added that while she “never saw [Hefner] as, like, a predator,” she still felt uneasy about the sex she had to endure with the CEO.

“I do remember, like, the [Bill] Cosby stuff started coming out, like while I was at the mansion, and Hef knew about that,” she said.

Cosby was accused of rape, sexual assault and sexual harassment by more than 60 women in 2015.

Crystal recalled that when it was time for sex with Hugh, he needed “at least five girls” with her in the bedroom.

“I was afraid. He was used to some kind of show, some kind of circus up there. So, like, just me? That’s not enough. It’s easy to feel not enough there,” Crystal said.

She stated that it was a “relief” to have sex with other girls alongside Hugh so she would not have to be “sexual with him all alone.” Sex in general was also “odd and robotic.”

Earlier this month, she even told People that she was never actually “in love” with her late husband.

“At the time I thought I was on top,” she said. “I thought, ‘Wow, if I just like everything that he likes and do all the things that he wants me to do, then I’m the favorite.’ And I was, but I just lost myself in the process.”
