Police said they were called to a property at Alfredton, a suburb of Ballarat, around 9pm last night.
The three-month-old was found unresponsive.
Emergency services performed CPR however the infant died at the scene.
Investigators are yet to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
Police are investigating.
