What to know about The Chicks
The Chicks, formerly known as the Dixie Chicks, are a country music band hailing from Dallas, Texas.
Since 1995, the group has comprised Natalie Maines (lead vocals, guitar) along with sisters Martie Maguire (vocals, fiddle, mandolin, guitar) and Emily Strayer (vocals, guitar, banjo, Dobro).
Maguire and Strayer, both born Erwin, established the band in 1989 in Dallas, Texas, alongside bassist Laura Lynch and vocalist/guitarist Robin Lynn Macy.

Specializing in bluegrass and country music, they spent six years busking and touring the bluegrass festival circuits and small venues without attracting major label attention.
In 1992, Macy departed, and Lynch assumed the role of lead vocalist.
