On Tuesday, a British nurse who was convicted in August of killing seven babies was formally found unfit to practice nursing.
Lucy Letby, 33, is serving 14 life sentences for killing seven babies and injuring 10 more while working at Countess of Chester Hospital’s neonatal unit in 2015 and 2016. The BBC reported that months after her convictions, the Nursing and Midwifery Council found she was unfit to practice nursing — and are now tasked with deciding whether to entirely remove her from the nursing register.
The nursing panel determined that Letby harmed her patients and violated protocol. Letby declined to take part in the hearing and is not contesting being taken off the nursing register. However, she also wrote that she does not “accept that I am guilty of any of the allegations.”

“I maintain my innocence in respect of all of the convictions. These convictions are now the subject of an appeal,” Letby also wrote, according to The Telegraph.
During her trial, it was revealed that Letby injected air into the victims’ bloodstream and gave them insulin.
The BBC reported that Letby will face a retrial next year in regard to an attempted murder charge involving a baby girl. An inquiry into how the slayings occurred is ongoing.
